I'm a passionate inclusion and diversity advocate determined to utilize a decade of a wide range of experience in digital strategy and problem solving to help affect change in the advertising industry.
Born in the Bronx, NY, God-is has built her digital career holding lead channel strategy roles at global agency iCrossing, and Austin-based T3.
In early 2016 Mrs. Rivera joined Ad Age A-List Global Agency VML in their New York office to lead channel strategy as an Associate Social Strategy Director.
God-is is passionate about highlighting the need for diversity within the industry and using her dynamic background as a strategist to tackle the issues of inclusion and diversity both within the human resources wheelhouse, as well as creative and strategic work outputs. In 2016 she created a presentation discussing the cultural impact of Black Twitter, and after helping to establish VML’s expanding diversity efforts and inclusion and diversity council, God-is was named Director, Inclusion & Cultural Resonance for VML in 2017, where she leads internal diversity efforts and is implementing Cultural Resonance, a methodology she created that fuses the importance of internal culture and representation to creative work outputs, and promotes the use of a diverse supplier base.
Since taking on this role she has helped lead and contribute to large-scale efforts such as VML’s 3% Certification recognition, the #SaluteBlackTwitter panel at Advertising Week NYC in 2017, and has been a speaker about the connection between strategic thinking and diversity and inclusion at The 3% Conference, Ad Age Survival Summit, the Cannes Lions Festival, Advertising Week NYC, TEDxKC, AAF speaker series, and the 4A’s Strategy Festival. She was also nominated as a 2017 ADCOLOR “Change Agent” and has been quoted for her cutting-edge point of view by Ad Age, The New York Times, Branding Magazine, and Campaign Live/US, among others. Rivera has also been profiled in digital trade publications Adweek, Ad Age, eMarketer, and The Drum. In 2018 she was named an Ad Age “Woman to Watch” and Adweek “Disruptor” for continuing to fight for representation and equity in the advertising industry.
God-is resides in New York with her husband and daughter.
